The benefits of being unnoticed

I bought my domain Approachary on 26 Aug 2025. One year later on 1 September 2026, there are still barely any contents on the website.

Not that I haven’t tried written or drawn anything. I had once had my Home page, Newsletter page and About page, but I was not happy with what I had created and deleted them. This process of creating, uploading and deleting has repeated itself for times, and I’m clearly getting nowhere. I clearly need a new approach.

Today, I make a change. I decide to write on my website directly just to create contents. I know that these first drafts are terrible and are far from being publishable, but I also believe that in this world that is filled with keen competition for attention, my website has a super high chance to become unnoticed.

This is the benefit of being unnoticed. When I am still new to this craft of creating website and writing copies, I need a space to explore and learn from my mistakes. This is the space I create for myself for now.

I always love Marie Forleo’s interview with Cheryl Strayed in which Strayed shared about her journey to become a writer.

“So much about creative work and certainly about writing is, , the way you survive is by running along at the speed of your own engine… That decision was about learning, really learning how to keep faith with my vision or my dream or my work.”

“The advice is always kind of depressing to people because the absolute only advice I really truly have for somebody who wants a life as a writer is write. Write. And keep writing, and keep writing and see what happens. It’s not about go to this party or go to this conference. Those things come up along the way. I do think at certain point it’s important to start meet people, meet your tribe, meet people who are doing what you’re doing, put yourself out there. I think the most important thing is to learn how to make a home with the work that you’re doing, because then you have something to offer the world. A lot of people want to make that offering before th'ey[‘ve created anything.”
